I’m back!
Ok, I was never gone really, just stuck in a rut. Still not out of it really but am peeking timidly over the edge J
It’s been a tough year and it’s not going to become any easier. I thought it would all be over by now but it’s only just begun.
Anyway, fuck all that, I have a life to get on with and it’s about time I stopped feeling sorry for myself and was more appreciative of how lucky I am to have a son like Rhys and a partner like Donna.
My last post here was nearly a year ago and was shortly after the Glasshouse 100 (flagship Glasshouse Trails event incorporating Australia’s oldest standing 100 mile foot race). I had finished the event, thanks to huge help from my fantastic crew and good friend Susannah, after sustaining a knee injury after about 60 km. With 100 km to go I didn’t figure on finishing but simply wasn’t allowed to quit.
A year later and the Glasshouse 100 is coming up this weekend. A very different year too. Injuries, little or no motivation and an extra 10 kg’s make it an entirely different proposition. In 2009 I was seriously looking to run it in under 20 hours. This year I’m looking solely to finish with a best case scenario of bringing it home in under 24 hours.
Either way, the weekend should prove interesting to say the least.
